Beer Trip: Cabin Creek Brewing in Georgetown, Colorado
When we think of breweries with a view, there are only a few that come to mind out of the hundreds that we’ve explored. Cabin Creek Brewing ranks right up there with the best of them, overlooking a small lake right at the base of a Rocky Mountain valley. This place combines great beer with even better views, making it a place to remember.
The most gorgeous views at Cabin Creek!
The Brewery
Expanding on the location, the atmosphere at Cabin Creek has a mountainous, cabin-like feel. The indoor space is large, featuring vaulted ceilings and exposed wooden columns and beams. The walls are mostly bare, as they’ve chosen large windows to highlight their views instead of wall decor - but you will still find two bull elk shoulder mounts towards the lakeside doors. There are tons of tables and chairs spread about, along with a 12-person U-shaped bar towards the back of the room. If sitting inside, they provide table service to order, but all outdoor patrons order from the bar. This created a bit of a bottleneck during our visit on a busy day, but they still worked to provide service rather quickly. They also had a side area blocked off that appeared to be reservable for meetings or events.

Additional tent seating outside
If the weather allows, it seems like most patrons choose to sit outside - which is what we did since we brought our pup, Barley. They lined the side of the building with plenty of picnic tables and even had a tent set up to accommodate more visitors. All of this is right along the gorgeous lakeshore! There is also an elevated deck with seating for ~20ish that allows people to overlook the entire patio area.
The Beer
Cabin Creek reserves roughly 12 taps for their own brews, as well as a few guest taps. We were informed that only 3 beers on the menu are what they consider flagships, and they rotate out the rest. During our visit the styles ran the gamut, featuring lagers, IPAs, a stout, and a sour. It was also fall, so they featured a large assortment of German-style brews, including Marzens, a Schwarzbier, and a Hefeweizen.
One of their seasonal Marzens called Rauchbier might have been the best beer we tried on our entire Colorado trip! This one actually infuses smoke within the beer (which we are kind of suckers for when done right) and still has the great malty taste you would expect from a Marzen. The other brew worth noting is the flagship New England-style IPA, Trail Tag. It’s on the hoppier side as far as IPAs go and provided us with a rich, tropical, juicy flavor. This one would hit the spot almost any time of the year.
Food, Merch, & More
In addition to serving beer, you can order cocktails or wine - and they even have a couple of N/A beers on tap, which is rare. Feel free to come hungry, as Cabin Creek has a kitchen offering a variety of appetizers, salads, burgers, wings, and pizzas. For a brewery of this size, you’ll find a nice merchandise selection with lots of t-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, jackets, hats, socks, and wall tackers. Luckily for us, they had a couple of stickers we could add to our collection.
It’s easy to see why Cabin Creek Brewing is a popular destination among beer lovers. Offering great views, a family-friendly atmosphere, and a nice food and drink selection, make sure to pay them a visit as you venture through Colorado.
Cheers!
Barley was a big fan of Cabin Creek, too!
