Force of Nature Brewery | De Soto, KS
Beer Trip: Force of Nature Brewery in De Soto, Kansas
After visiting hundreds of breweries, so many of them seem to blend together in our minds. Force of Nature Brewery bucks that trend and offers both an atmosphere and a beer menu that differ from the norm.

The Brewery
Delightfully decorated for the holidays
Force of Nature sits in an old brick building that is lovingly referred to as “Grandpa’s Garage.” This makes sense, because the entire inside feels just like your grandparents’ house - in the best way! The place has the biggest hodgepodge of 80s and 90s style tables and chairs you could imagine. It really takes you back, as you can visualize nearly every type being used at various locations throughout your childhood. The walls are lined with several handmade quilts, as well as various locally made artwork available for purchase.

Private reservable space
The space doesn’t look like more than a Ford service station from the road, but it’s actually huge inside, with room for well over 100 people. The brewery itself lines the right side of the space, separated by a half wall, and the back of the room houses the bar where you order from. There is also a private room in the back that is reservable or open to the public if unoccupied. They host a surprising number of events, including live music once a week, board game nights, and monthly craft and pint nights.

The Beer
Morgan chose a flight
Their beer (and how they serve it) really sets this place apart from other breweries. They are huge in the utilization of herbs within their recipes, and we aren’t talking about the basic cinnamon or orange peel here. On their menu, each brew is identified by both beer style and by its herbal adjunction. During this visit, the herbal adjunctions included elderberry, peppercorn, dandelion root, and oat straw (whatever that is!). The other neat thing about their beer is that it is served in vintage glassware, with a lot of it appearing to change along with the seasons. Whether you opt for a flight or a pint, each one is poured into a glass that looks like it could have been picked up at a local farm auction.
Force of Nature maintains 10 different beers, plus a couple of house ciders, on tap at any given time. Since they’ve only been open since mid-2024, they’re still determining which brews should be flagships - but they’ve already identified two so far: the Dean’s Model A and the Bee’s Knees. The staff did mention that several other recipes have repeated a few times, so their list of brewery staples may be on the incline soon. Our personal favorite of the trip was the Superbloom. This hoppy lager is made with elderflower, giving it a very unique flavor that is tough to even explain… but it’s well worth trying!
Food, Merch, & More
Merch aplenty
We stopped in during the middle of the afternoon, so the kitchen wasn’t open - but the menu included soft pretzels, charcuterie boards, gourmet nachos, and various paninis. It’s not a big selection, but they appear to do things right based on the photos we saw of the food. You can also order wine, specialty cocktails, or an N/A beverage if beer isn’t your thing.
Their merchandise selection is right inside the front door and features a nice variety of shirts, hoodies, hats, glassware, and bottle openers. We made sure to grab one of their stickers before hitting the road!
We are fortunate that Force of Nature is only about 20 minutes from our house. Based on our experience this first time, this visit certainly won’t be our last!
Cheers!
Excited to bring Gretchen along on our brewery adventures
