Beer Trip: Dangerous Man Brewing Company in Minneapolis, Minnesota

“All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake up in the day to find it was vanity, but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men for they may act their dreams with open eyes to make it possible.” - T.E. Lawrence

This quote is the namesake of Dangerous Man Brewing Company and they certainly live by it through their quirky atmosphere and great beer.

Awesome brewery in an old bank building!

The Brewery

Lots of live plants

Dangerous Man occupies the old, blonde brick building of a former bank, whose name is still engraved in stone above the front door. Tons of natural light fill the inside, making it easy for them to scatter live plants throughout. The decor features fun murals of dinosaur skeletons and a huge fish with a full beard, all playing with your imagination as you sip your pint. There is plenty of outdoor seating, including one long, 20-person table right in the middle of the room for multiple groups to share. If the weather allows, Dangerous Man also has a nice outdoor patio located behind the building featuring more live plants combined with colorful chairs.

Unique hand-painted murals!

Fun colorful outdoor seating with an alleyway feel

Fun bar area with a few stools

The Beer

The beers on tap during our visit

Dangerous Man offers a ton of different beers with a whopping 18 selections to choose from. During our visit, they had almost every brewing style one could think of, from porters and stouts, 6 IPAs, fruit beers, saisons, a cream ale, and a Mexican lager, among others. They informed us that only 4 selections are flagships and the rest of the menu changes as they run out.

With so many options to choose from, we tried to mix it up with styles we sampled and found everything to be well above average quality-wise - this was some of the best beer we’ve tried in the Minneapolis area. One of their flagships is their Chocolate Milk Stout. This was one of the best milk stouts we have tried in a while, with perfect, sweet, creamy flavor and a smooth finish. Another one that really stood out was their Hazernado IPA, which is a New England-style brew with great haze and a bit of citrus.

Food, Merch, & More

While we came for the beer itself, many patrons around us were sampling one of the beer-infused soft-serve selections that seem to be growing in popularity in the brewery scene. If alcohol isn’t your thing at all, they also offer soda, THC-infused tonic, and a couple of nonalcoholic brews as well. Dangerous Man does not have a kitchen but does have a limited snack selection featuring chips, seasoned nuts, and multiple flavored pretzels. If your pup is hungry, you could get a container of their dog treats made with the brewery’s spent grain.

In addition to their food and drink, they have a nice merchandise selection to look through. Featuring many shirts, hats, blankets, signs, hand-crafted clay mugs, and cribbage boards, they have some of the more unique offerings we’ve seen. They also offer a “Growler Shop” with designated crowler and growler refill days!

Dangerous Man is a place one doesn’t forget, and it was the perfect place to spend a few hours. this should definitely be one of your destinations if you’re in the Minneapolis area.

Cheers!

Chris
