Beer Trip: Stonecloud Brewing Company in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
During our travels, we always plan ahead on the breweries that we want to visit… but sometimes it’s best to listen to the locals and pivot your itinerary! That’s exactly what happened for us in Oklahoma City, resulting in our stop at Stonecloud Brewing Company after some of our other activities wrapped up earlier than anticipated.
The Brewery
View of the Sunshine Cleaners sign!
Stonecloud sits inside an old, blonde, brick building that originally served as a dry cleaner for over 50 years. In fact, the easiest way to find the place is to look for the neon Sunshine Laundry and Cleaners sign that still sits atop the building. There happened to be a bike and parts swap meeting going on during our visit that took up the parking lot. This made parking a bit challenging on our visit, but our guess is that this probably isn’t normally an issue.
You enter through the small, 10-person outdoor patio, featuring seating composed of two custom-poured concrete bar tops and some bright red bar stools. Upon stepping into the indoor space, you’ll find it to be long and narrow with the bar running nearly the entire length. Tables and chairs occupy the middle and left-hand sides of the room, including a single booth that takes up the entire outside wall. They also have a separate room at the front of the building featuring a pool table, as well as a private, reservable space perfect for smaller gatherings. We brought our kids with us, and our 3-year-old found a great deal of enjoyment playing with the blocks and dominoes they had available for littles.

The Beer
It seemed like every place in Oklahoma City maintains an extensive tap list, and Stonecloud is no different, with a collection of 16 brews on draft. Of those, 6 are unique, core beers, and they rotate out the remaining 10 kegs as they’re emptied. We appreciated the diversity in their brews, which included multiple IPAs, sours, and barrel-aged options, as well as a pilsner, Irish red, and Belgian wit, to name a few. One thing that we found amusing about their menu was some of the names of the beers. We encountered Chug Norris, Danny Boi, Brews Lee, and Drew Berrymore, who provided comical nods to celebrities in beer form.
Drew Berrymore looking pretty!
Having a few hours to spend here, we were able to try several brews each, and all were enjoyable. One of note was the Astrodog, which is their flagship American IPA. This one was different than most IPAs, featuring an earthy taste blended perfectly with some fruitiness. It’s tough to explain, so we recommend you sample for yourself! Another beer worth mentioning was a rotator called Five Finger Discount. This Kolsch had rich orange and grapefruit flavoring, but was rather dry and seemed to stop the citrus right at the tip of the tongue. You could drink this one all day!
Food, Merch, & More
Plenty of merchandise and board games
You won’t find any food at Stonecloud, but they will let you bring your own inside. If beer isn’t your thing, then you can get wine, a seltzer, or one of their many housemade sparkling hop waters known as Fuzzy Rabbit. Morgan enjoyed one of their seltzers, served complete with ice cream mixed in - this was a delicious first for us! These must be quite popular, as we saw them available at several other locations across town. For a N/A option, you could also order a glass of their barrel-aged root beer. The merchandise section is up near the bar and includes shirts, hats, glassware, and a first for us, their own sticker vending machine! You can also purchase any of their core beers and some of their rotators in to-go 6-packs, which we of course took advantage of.
